Tour Details

Conquer 2 peaks in one adventure and discover Tanzania’s wild beauty as you scale 2 epic summits: Mt. Meru (4562m) & Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895m). Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru combine to make an excellent trek with plenty of acclimatisation. The ascent of Mount Meru, Kili’s little sister, makes for a superb training and acclimatising trip and is often recommended as a great warm up before the main ascent of Kilimanjaro.

Join us on the ultimate African climbing challenge summiting Tanzania’s 2 highest summits. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, standing at 5,895 meters. It is one of the Seven Summits.

To give you the best chance of summiting, we will operate with expert local suppliers to guarantee full control of every aspect of the climb. Led by local mountaineer Ryan Mex, together with our highly skilled professional guides and we ascertain all components for a successful climb.

Our goal is to help you reach both summits safely and have an unforgettable mountain expedition that you will cherish for a lifetime.

To make your Tanzania trip even more complete, our trip also features an optional 3- day wild-life safari in some of Africa’s most incredible game reserves, including Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park.

Mt. Meru 4 day climb:
Mt. Meru is Kilimanjaro’s little sister and one of the most underrated treks in the world. At 4562 metres it is Tanzania’s second highest mountain and the fourth highest mountain in Africa. Mt. Meru has become a popular “warm up” trek for Kilimanjaro climbers and indeed is the perfect preparation for a Kilimanjaro climb: plus it offers unique breathtaking views and scenery from the summit of the ash cone and crescent volcano crater.

It is a four day round-trip and a wonderful climb in its own right. It is far, far less crowded than any of the routes on Kilimanjaro. You can also expect to see wildlife on the lower slopes and in the Arusha National Park which we pass through after the climb.

Kilimanjaro via Lemosho Route 7 day climb:
The Lemosho Route has officially the highest success rate and is the best overall route to climb Kilimanjaro. It offers a higher chance of summiting Kilimanjaro over 7 due to excellent acclimatization and an easier summit night. The Lemosho route approaching from the West is also re-knowned as the route with the best views and spectacular vistas.

This adventure starts off with easy hiking as you gain altitude, spread over 5 days to help you acclimatize, improving your chances of making the summit. Enjoy the climb through magnificent forests and moorland, and emerge into high-alpine deserts as you enjoy spectacular views along the way to the summit.

3 – Day Lodge Safari:
This 3-day lodge safari offers you the chance to see a wide variety of wildlife amongst some of the most diversified landscapes. Not only will you visit the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Park but also the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will see huge herds of elephants, in season flocks of flamingos and troops of baboons.

All that is required from your end is determination and a strong desire to get to the summit. If you dream of being on the highest summit of Africa, then this trip is for you! Join the thousands of climbers who have stood on the Mount Kilimanjaro Summit, it could be you!

Frequently Asked Questions

How difficult is it to do both mountains?

Both Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro are demanding climbs. Each mountain is moderately hard for an average hiker but spread out over four days it is well within most people’s reach. The altitude is just low enough not to trouble most hikers.

Doing Mt. Meru before Kilimanjaro does help you with acclimatisation, meaning that you will suffer much less on Kilimanjaro.

When you speak to Kilimanjaro guides they will all tell you that people who climb Mt. Meru and Kilimanjaro together pretty much always make it to the top of Kilimanjaro without serious problems.

But keep in mind that most people who want to do both mountains together would probably be experienced trekkers to start with.

How fit should I be to join the trip?

You don’t need to be a hardcore trekker or an athlete, that’s for sure. Kilimanjaro is an easy high altitude climb that requires only walking with no technical climbing. The adventure calls for 7 days with approximately 4-6hrs of walking a day, with a longer summit push. The fitter you are, the higher your chances of success. It is fair to say that before you take the Kili challenge, you are able to walk comfortable for 3-4hrs a day.

To make your life easier, we are offering a complimentary mountain climbing training plan to all our clients, designed by Ryan Mex.

Which route has the highest success rate?

  • The route we have chosen is considered the most scenic and with the highest success rates due to its acclimatization stages and a shorter summit push.

Acclimitazation: do we need oxygen or altitude pills?

No oxygen needed, and altitude pills are not mandatory. As a rule of thumb when climbing at high altitude, acclimitisation and gradual climbing are the golden rules. This minimizes the risk of altitude sickness and improves your chance of summiting.

Our experienced guides will be equipped emergency oxygen and with common altitude medications such as Diamox, should the need arise.

What about training and preparation before the climb?

To make your life easier, we are offering a complimentary mountain climbing training plan to all our clients, designed by Ryan Mex. You need to be in good physical shape to climb Kili.

Will it be the right season to climb Kili?

June to September is the best time to visit Mt. Kilimanjaro. These months are sunny most of the time which ensures mild climate and guaranteed views.

Is it possible to arrive earlier / stay longer?

Yes, ofcourse. As long as you are in Moshi or Kilimanjaro airport on the trip dates, you are free to arrive / leave whenever you want. It is best to let us know your plans so we can organise transfers accordingly.

What type of insurance do I need?

Every climber is required to make a travel insurance package which covers mountain climbing up to 6000m. This is an absolute must for any mountain expedition.

What kind of accommodation is available on the mountain?

Accommodation for climbers on Mount Meru is in two very well appointed, big huts, the Miriakamba Huts at 2514 m (8248 ft) and the Saddle Huts at 3570 m (11712 ft).

Accommodation on Kilimanjaro, each expedition sleeps under the stars in 2-men tents every night on the mountain. The trip includes fully catered camping and sleeping equipment (Sleeping Bags + Tents) for the expedition. Tents are pitched by our team of climbing crew and porters, and disassembled also by the same team.

How about food and water on the mountain?

Full board meals are prepared for us by the climbing crew. Safe drinking water is provided for everyone.

What vaccinations do I need?

As per WHO suggestions, it is recomanded to have shots of yellow fever, Hep A & Hep B, rabies and typhoid.

Will it be cold on the mountain?

As we climb higher and higher, yes it gets very cold. The climb takes us from tropical climates to alpine climates, with varying temperatures between +25C and -10C. Refer to our recommanded Climbing and Equipment Gear list.
