Why you should join our trip to Tanzania Safari & Zanzibar:

Join a fun and like-minded group trip organised by Michelle from ‘Cheeky Passports’ and Globaltravelbook on a 11 day journey to Tanzania including 4 days on the beautiful island of Zanzibar. During the Safari we will visit 3 areas: (i) Tarangire NP (ii) Serengeti NP (iii) NgoroNgoro Crater (iv) Lake Manyara

During our time in Zanzibar, we will be staying at Nungwi, one of the best beach destinations on the island. Nungwi is famous for its crystal-clear water and powdery white-sand beaches, and unlike beaches in other areas of Zanzibar, the minimal tide differences make it a swimming destination at all times of the day.

Nungwi beach is also home to a vibrant nightlife and the various restaurants offer a wide range of cuisines.

Our hotel is located 500m away from the beach, making it ideal for those who would like to spend time at the beach by day or night, but also for those would like to enjoy the peace and quiet of a relatively secluded  location.

Accommodation :

Lodges (During Safari)  – Lodges provide a more comfortable accommodation option compared to camping, with comfortable rooms and en suite bathrooms. They are usually located in a wild, spectacular setting and some lodges even provide wifi. – €3650

What about flights?

No group booking is available for this period. Therefore, you will need to book your flights individually, or we can arrange them for you. Please contact us before booking any flights so we can provide you with the necessary flight details.

More than 50% of our bookings are from solo adventurers. We run open groups which means that anyone could join in the fun and meet like-minded travellers along the way. You can either team up with someone and share a room or else opt for the single supplement.

Day 1 - 30th December 2025NUNGWI, ZANZIBAR - FREE DAY

Depart from Malta on the 29th December 2025 and arrive in Zanzibar on the 30th December 2025 at 7.30am 

During your stay on the island, you are free to enjoy your free time to relax and enjoy the crystal-clear water and powdery white-sand beaches. However, we’ve also organised three optional activities that you could join

  1. Combined prison island tour, stone town and spice tour (starting from, based on min. 10pax: €90 pp) – if you would like to experience a completely different vibe to the beach and water-based activities. Stone Town is home to markets, elegant architecture and historical sites in a maze of utterly fascinating winding roads and alleyways. Do not miss Stone Town’s huge and elaborately carved Zanzibari doors!
  2. Safari blue trip (starting from, based on min. 10pax: €65pp) – an unforgettable journey through the crystal-clear waters around Zanzibar, showcasing the diverse marine life and stunning landscapes of Zanzibar. Also includes snorkelling, lunch and a visit to a beautiful sandbank.

Day 5 - 3rd January 2026Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour

  • Breakfast
  • 9:30am: Pick up from your Arusha hotel.
  • Materuni Waterfalls: Upon arrival, you’ll register at the village office. Begin with a 40-minute walk to the waterfall, guided by local insights into the culture, socioeconomic activities, and traditions of the Chagga tribe. The landscape offers breathtaking views, including the Kilimanjaro summit on clear days. Upon reaching the 80-meter-high waterfall, you can enjoy a swim in the natural pool if you have your swimming costume.
  • Lunch: Savor a delicious local lunch and sample native Chagga beer.
  • Coffee Experience: Learn how coffee is picked, dried, roasted, and processed. You can participate in the traditional process, which includes singing and tasting local beer—a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture.
  • Return to Arusha: After the tour, you’ll return to your Arusha hotel with newfound appreciation for village life.

Day 6 - 4th January 2026Arusha – Tarangire National Park

  • Morning: Pick up from your Arusha hotel and transfer to the departure zone for briefing.
  • Tarangire National Park: Depart for Tarangire National Park, with lunch en route. Enjoy an afternoon game drive upon arrival. The park is famous for its large elephant population and the Tarangire River, which attracts diverse wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, buffalos, impalas, giraffes, and over 500 bird species.
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/camp

Day 7 - 5th January 2026 Tarangire – Serengeti National Park

  • 08:00 AM: After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park with lunch en route.
  • Serengeti National Park: Upon arrival, complete the registration at the main gate, followed by a game drive to your camp in Central Serengeti. This marks the beginning of your adventure in the heart of Tanzania’s wildlife.
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at Seronera campsite/lodge.

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Transfers & Safari Entrances.

Day 8 - 6th January 2026Serengeti – Ngorongoro + Optional Maasai Village Stop

  • Early Morning: Start your day with breakfast and a packed picnic lunch. Embark on a 6-hour game drive within Serengeti National Park, where you’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise.
  • Afternoon: Proceed to Ngorongoro Crater with an en-route game drive.
  • Optional: Stop at a Maasai village  for 1 hour (25 USD pp to be paid on the day to the village elder)
  • Evening: Arrive at your campsite/lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9 - 7th January 2026Full Day at Ngorongoro

  • Morning: Descend to the crater floor for a full day of incredible wildlife viewing. Ngorongoro Crater is a unique and stunning location with Africa’s highest concentration of animals.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a picnic at the crater rim, surrounded by rivers, swamps, a soda lake, and open plains.
  • Afternoon: Continue with a game drive before returning to your campsite/lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10 - 8th January 2026Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara – Arusha

  • Morning: After breakfast, check out and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park with lunch en route.
  • Lake Manyara National Park: The park offers exceptional game viewing, including sightings of tree-climbing lions and a variety of bird species. Bird-watchers will delight in flocks of flamingos, birds of prey, and the colorful lilac-breasted roller.
  • Afternoon: Continue to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight to Zanzibar.

Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Transfers & Safari Entrances.

Day 11 - 9th January 2026Departure Day

Transfer to airport for an early morning flight.

Departure time approx 4.20am

 

Tips & Important things to know before travelling to Tanzania

  • Internet & Wifi connectivity is sometimes good and sometimes it is poor especially during the game drives.
  • Some drives will be be long on so be sure to carry motion sickness pills just in case
  • Internal flight: 23KG checked in luggage and 7KG hand luggage
  • It is recommended to invest in and pack a good pair of binoculars
  • Pack a light jacket to keep warm in areas such as NgoroNgoro and a light rain jacket just in case
  • All vehicles have plugs where you may charge all your electronics. If you chose the camping option you will not have electricity sockets in your tent, but you can charge your devices in the communal areas at the camp site. Lodges have electricity sockets.
  • If you chose the camping option: tents will be set up for you and a sleeping bag, mat and pillow will be provided. You should pack your own bed liner, bring your own towel and head torch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to arrive earlier / stay longer?

  • Yes, of course. As long as you are in Zanzibar a on the trip dates, you are free to arrive / leave whenever you want. It is best to let us know your plans so we can organise transfers accordingly. 

What type of insurance do I need?

Every client is required to have a travel insurance package. This needs to be presented to us. Apart from your personal insurance policy, as of October 1st 2024, Zanzibar has implemented a new insurance which visitors have to buy before entering. It costs approx $44 per person and has to be bought online through this link.

A wide range of restaurants, both local and international can be found in Nairobi and in the cities in Tanzania. The lodges will provide meals to their guests. Zanzibar is home to a vast range of cuisine, and Italian food as well as seafood is especially prevalent on the island.  

Do I need a visa to enter Tanzania?

  • Confirmation will be received within 24 hours of booking - subject to availability
  • First come, first served basis. The minimum number of people required for this trip is 10 people. In the case this is not reached, you will get your full payment back.
  • Our local partners and tour leader can adjust the itinerary at the last minute due to weather conditions. Changes will only be made with your safety and well-being in mind, and not for any other reason.
  • We will make every effort to pair you with a roommate for a twin room. However, if this is not possible, you will be responsible for covering the single supplement fee.
  • Tour timings and the order of activities are subject to change based on final flight schedules or unforeseen circumstances, such as the unavailability of certain activities. A final version of the itinerary will be provided in booklet form closer to the trip dates. We strive to provide equivalent alternatives to ensure the best experience for our travelers.
  • If you decide to switch from a shared room to a single room after booking, the single supplement option won't apply. We'll need to work out a new price for the single room based on each individual case.
  • It is the responsibility of the persons joining an experience to communicate any food intolerances/allergy-related information. GTB or the Service Provider will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food/drinks consumed, or items one may come in contact with while on an experience

  • Travel and Health insurance is obligatory: All travellers must be fully insured, and purchase their own travel insurance which covers the particular trip being booked. A waiver document must be filled in, signed and sent back to Globaltravelbook.
  • International flights are not included. You must book your own flights and be in the visiting country on the itinerary dates. Your flight must arrive by or before the Arrival Day, and depart no earlier then the Departure Day.
  • Signing up to any of our trips and any risks involved are the sole responsibility of the individual, and organizers cannot be held responsible in any way to illness, altitude sickness, injury or trauma during the trip.
  • If a traveller for some reason cannot travel on the dates, the organiser is not responsible.

Payment Details

To secure your spot you need to send a deposit of €750 either via bank transfer or use our online payment system (select 20.55% option) after completing the booking form. Second payment of €1000 is required by the 20th April 2025. Last payment is due on the 20th October 2025.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel your booking, we will offer a refund of any balance which we have not yet paid or are obliged to pay to any other Third Party. When a booking is cancelled within the month prior to departure, the remaining balance will be non refundable as well as we would be fully committed at that stage. All types of travel insurance are supposed to cover “cancellations” and for this reason we require that such travel insurance is purchased prior to travel.
