Itinerary - the below is a DROP-DOWN menu:

Day 1 Arrival in Muscat - Sur

  • Drive to Bimmah Sinkhole – Optional swim.
  • Continue to Wadi Shab – Light canyoning and swimming through natural pools to reach a hidden cave.
  • Drive to Sur and check in to your hotel.
  • Optional: Turtle Tour at Ras Al Hadd 

Hotel: Rozana hotel in Muscat and Al Ayjah Hotel in Sur

Included: Breakfast, Transfers, Entrances, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 2 Sur - Wahiba Sands Desert

  • Sunrise Boat Tour: Begin your day with a peaceful sunrise boat tour aboard a traditional dhow.
  • Return to Hotel: After the boat tour, return to your hotel for breakfast, followed by check-out.
  • Dhow Ship Factory Visit: Following check-out, visit a dhow ship factory to discover the traditional craft of dhow shipbuilding.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a relaxing lunch.
  • Wadi Bani Khalid: After lunch, journey to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s iconic canyons. You may choose to relax in the serene surroundings or take a swim in the natural pools.
  • Drive to Bidiyah (Wahiba Sands Desert): Continue your adventure with a drive to Bidiyah, where the vast Wahiba Sands desert awaits.
  • Check-in & Desert Adventure: Upon arrival, check into your accommodation, then set off for an exhilarating dune bashing experience, followed by sunset tea in the heart of the desert.
  • Dinner at the Camp: Wind down with a delightful dinner under the stars.

Stay in private huts equipped with a private toilet and shower. Please note:

  • This is an adventure stay in the middle of the desert.
  • Internet access may be limited.
  • Hot water is available during the day; however, in the evening, hot water may not be available.

Day 3Wadi Hawir - Wahiba Sands Desert

  • Optional: Early wake-up call for a hot air balloon ride 
  • Afterward, return to the accommodation for breakfast.
  • Next, you’ll head to Wadi Hawir for a packed day of canyoning, designed for those seeking an adrenaline-filled adventure. The day will involve swimming, rock climbing, and optional abseiling. If you prefer a less challenging experience, an alternative route will be available. It is important that appropriate canyoning shoes are used on this day – multi purpose non-slip shoes with grip used for hiking and swimming.

Accommodation Details:
Stay in private huts equipped with a private toilet and shower. Please note:

  • This is an adventure stay in the middle of the desert.
  • Internet access may be limited.
  • Hot water is available during the day; however, in the evening, hot water may not be available.

Day 4 - 1st January 2026Nizwa

  • Easy morning post-NYE and morning relaxation at the desert camp with the option to ride a camel or rent a quad bike at an additional fee (approx 15-18 OMR)
  • Depart from the desert and stop for lunch before continuing for the historical city of Nizwa.
  • Once checked-in, you will head out to explore the streets of Nizwa before returning to the hotel or a restaurant for dinner 
  • Nizwa was once the country’s capital in the 6th and 7th century and its souq is one of the oldest and most authentic markets in Oman. It is renowned for its silver jewelry, khanjars (traditional Omani daggers), pottery, and dates.

Day 5 Nizwa – Misfat Al Abriyeen – Jebel Akhdar

  • Guided tour of Nizwa Fort 
  • After, you will depart from Nizwa and head to Misfat Al Abriyeen, an old and picturesque mountain village located in the Al Hajar Mountains. It is known for its traditional mud-brick houses, lush terraced farms, and ancient irrigation system (falaj).
  • After lunch, you will head to Jebel Akhdar and check-in to your accommodation 
  • Once you check-in, you will head to Al Suwjarah (Al-Sugra) village to explore its local charm and scenic mountain surroundings.

Day 6 Jebel Akhdar Adventure & Via Ferrata

  • Morning Hike & Adventure Activity:

    • After breakfast, enjoy a hike (3-4km, approx 1.5 hours) in Siq village in Jebel Akhdar and discover more about the history of mountain villages in Oman.
    • End the hike with an optional Via Ferrata and Zipline adventure with the beautiful landscape views of Jebel Akhdar.
      • The Via Ferrata is a thrilling climbing experience, not overly difficult but requires a head for heights.
      • You can view images on the listing or contact us via email for more details.
      • Optional: You can choose to relax and enjoy the mountain scenery if you prefer not to participate.
  • Local Lunch:

    • Enjoy a traditional local lunch following the morning activities.
  • Afternoon Relaxation:

    • Return to the hotel to refresh and unwind.
  • Sunset Tea Experience:

    • Head to a scenic sunset spot to enjoy tea with stunning views over Jebel Akhdar.
  • Evening:

    • Dinner is served at the hotel and the evening ends with going to a light pollution-free area for stargazing in the mountains 25 minutes away from the hotel

Day 7Birkat Al Mouz - Muscat

  • Breakfast and check-out 
  • Depart for Muscat and stop and Birkat Al Mouz for a short hike. Birkat Al Mouz is a scenic and historic village and home to traditional mud-brick houses, some of which are abandoned, creating a photogenic setting. The village is surrounded by lush date plantations and banana farms, creating a green oasis-like setting. It is also known the Aflaj systems represent an ancient irrigation technique, using gravity to channel water from underground sources to farms and settlements. These systems are over 2,000 years old and are still in use today, showcasing traditional Omani water management and agriculture. So, while the village as a whole is not a UNESCO site, its falaj system is—making Birkat Al Mouz historically and culturally significant.
  • Drive to Muscat and check-in your hotel.

Join the group leader to visit:

  • Muttrah Fort – offering panoramic views over the harbor 
  • Muttrah Souq – a bustling market known for Omani handicrafts, spices, and silver

Day 8Muscat - Bandar Al Khairan

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
  • Transfer to Bandar Rowdha to catch a boat to get to Bandar al Khairan for  a full day of exciting sea activities. Enjoy dolphin watching and snorkelling with turtles, immersing yourself in the beauty of marine life. Indulge in a beach picnic with a BBQ lunch, savouring delicious food with a view. Then, experience the thrill of kayaking and banana boat rides, creating unforgettable memories on the water.

Day 9Free day or Dimaniyat Island

  • Breakfast at hotel 
  • Choose to have a free day in Muscat or else optional day trip to Dimaniyat Islands 
  • 8am – 1.30pm : A day trip to Dimaniyat Islands begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Muscat, followed by a speedboat ride to the islands, known for their crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and rich marine life. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy snorkelling alongside vibrant fish and sea turtles. Afterward, you can relax on the pristine white-sand beaches or explore the island’s natural beauty.
  • In the afternoon, you’ll depart the islands and return to Muscat, arriving back at your hotel by late afternoon

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of insurance do I need?

Every client is required to make a travel insurance package. Make sure it covers all the activities that you will choose to participate in. 

How is the weather like in the time of travel?

Located in the Middle East bordering the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, Oman has a mainly dry desert climate with warm weather all year round. December is winter time in Oman, but although it’s relatively mild at this time of year, temperatures are still ideal for a holiday in the sun. The weather in December is much more comfortable and perfect for relaxing on the beach, swimming in the sea or lazing about by the pool.

Averages

The average temperature in the capital Muscat at this time of year’s a warm 23°C, reaching highs of 27°C. The sun’s strong all year round in this part of the world, so make sure you stay safe by applying sun cream regularly, finding shade and drinking lots of water. After dark temperatures drop as low as 19°C, ideal for evenings out. Just 10mm of rain’s expected during the month, while the seas are an inviting 25°C.

What is the accommodation like?

Accomodation will be hand selected 3-4* hotels (tried and tested). The price includes accommodation in a shared private double room, however, if one wishes to have a private room that sleeps (1 person) this is possible at an additional cost of  €450. 

What travel vaccines are needed?

Vaccinations are subjective – they are required like most destinations outside of Europe. Best is to check with your doctor or Health Centre.

Is it possible to arrive earlier / stay longer?

Yes, of course. As long as you are in Muscat on the trip dates, you are free to arrive / leave whenever you want. It is best to let us know your plans so we can organise transfers accordingly. 

Do I need a visa to enter Oman?

As a Maltese citizen you do not require a visa if visiting for less than 14 days. If things change by the time of travel, we will inform you .
