Prepare for a challenging exploration today as you tackle the Laguna Torres Hike, the standout attraction of El Chaltén. Offering a close and impressive perspective of Mount Fitz Roy, this iconic peak, is beautifully framed by the turquoise waters of Laguna de los Tres, creating a breathtaking and postcard-perfect scene.
Your adventure starts off in the morning as you meet our experienced mountain guide at your hotel. The trek commences by taking a transfer to the trailhead at Río Eléctrico bridge, positioned 18 km north of the town. From the beginning, the landscape unfolds, revealing a panorama of diverse glaciers—Marconi, Eléctrico, Cagliero—and in the distance, Vespignani glacier toward Lago del Desierto.
The path maintains a gentle incline, leading to the first scenic viewpoint, Piedras Blancas glacier. As we emerge from the forest into a clearing, the majestic peaks of “S,” Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, Fitz Roy, Mermoz, and Guillaumet come into full view. Ascending approximately 400m in an hour, we reach Laguna de los Tres. The rocky and stepped path to this point provides an awe-inspiring view of Fitz Roy, Glacier de los Tres, and its lagoon, evoking a sense of insignificance in the grandeur of the surroundings.
Circling Laguna de los Tres, we proceed towards the Laguna Sucia viewpoint and its glacier. After a rejuvenating lunch, the descent commences, passing through varied landscapes, clear streams, and the picturesque Laguna Capri—a favorite spot for photographers. The journey concludes in the valley where El Chaltén is nestled.

We will start our adventure crossing along the path that goes to Laguna Toro. After an hour of hiking uphill, we arrive at a wide-open area of the Fitz Roy, Torre and Huemul Hills.
We continue through the Pampa de las Carretas, until crossing a lush forest. As we leave, we begin to walk through a different landscape, almost high mountains, where the aridity and the floral species will not cease to amaze us. Also in this section, marine fossil remains of ammonites and belemnites of 100 million years old are very easily found.
From here we have a different and unconventional view of the Torre and Fitz Roy massifs. After having this amazing and unforgettable panoramic view, we return to the office meeting point in El Chaltén.
After breakfast, choose to take the morning easy and go for a hike in the vicinity or opt for a half-day kayaking tour in Rio Vueltas. In the afternoon, return to El Chalten and a private transfer to El Calafate.
Optional Activity (Kayaking): (0-14 persons: $268 & 16+ persons: $250)
The excursion begins with a transfer in the morning along the scenic route that connects El Chaltén to Lago del Desierto, about 37km of gravel road. When we arrive the guide will organise the order of the day – depending on the weather conditions you may first kayak and then have free time for exploring, or the other way round. The guide provides us with waterproof suits and will give basic instructions in how to kayak and other details to bear in mind.
When we are out on the water we’ll be able to enjoy great views of the mountains surrounding us, their lenga forests and hanging glaciers. After a while, we’ll have a short break and enjoy a snack.
In the free time at the lake you’ll be able to go for a self guided walk, there are various options. You could walk along the eastern and western shores of the lake (if you dare to cross over the hanging bridge!), or you could visit the Huemul glacier (this second option is a hanging glacier in private land – if you decide to do this you would have to pay an entrance fee, too.)

For Trekkers:
We’ll head out early to take on Torres del Paine’s most iconic hike: the Base de Torres Hike! Departing from the trailhead, the trail ascends upwards from the outside of the massif of mountains toward the Ascencio Valley; Along the way, be sure to pause and look around to take in the spectacular scenery. After reaching the entry point to the valley, the trail descends into the forest along the valley floor, heading to the El Chileno Campsite and Refugio. From there, the trail continues through an ancient forest of lenga trees until it reaches the base of a steep glacial moraine, which we must climb up. It’s the most difficult part of the trail, but well worth it because at the top, you get the ultimate reward: the famous view of the dramatic Tres Torres: the trio of granite spires for which the park is named, rising above a blue glacial lake. We’ll pause here a while to rest, enjoy lunch, and soak up the view before retracing our steps back to the trailhead. From there, we’ll drive back to the hotel for a well-deserved rest
Leaving the crowds of Torres del Paine, today we’ll navigate the dramatic, rocky fjords near Puerto Natales on a boat tour to visit the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers.
Setting out from Puerto Natales, the boat will enter the fjords, pausing along the route at different points of interest and to point out wildlife like dolphins, cormorants, sea lions, and condors. Surrounded by rocky cliffs pierced by waterfalls, with unspoiled forests and mountain peaks overhead, these are the landscapes of southern Patagonia that are often unseen by foreign visitors who only visit Torres del Paine, and are sure to wow with their sheer grandeur.
The two highlights of the trip are pausing at the Balmaceda Glacier, which cascades down Mount Balmaceda right into the fjord, and then disembarking temporarily at Puerto Toro for a short walk through the forest to the Serro Glacier, which feeds into a small lake that is always full of icebergs in all sorts of spectacular shapes. The boat will then take us back to Puerto Natales, where you’ll have the evening free to enjoy your final night in Patagonia.
