Fairy Meadows trek is renown as pure hiking excellence, and a paradise on Earth. It should definitely be on every hiker’s bucket list. Fairy Meadow is a lush green plateau, at 3300 m, offering a breathtaking view of Majestic Nanga Parbat (The Killer Mountain). Many people have called it the “Heaven on Earth”. These lush, green meadows and forests lie at the base of Nanga Parbat at the western edge of the Himalayan range in Pakistan. Fairy Meadows is a very peaceful and relaxing place to enjoy the mountain atmosphere and hospitality of the local people. The name Fairy Meadows is part of the legend that Fairies have their heaven on this lush green plateau. • Delays could occur due to weather conditions (be it air or land transport)- so please be patient, we do not have control over mother nature but our partners in Pakistan will always find the best possible solution for you.
  • Spicy food is a way of life here. Therefore, at times we will be able to offer non-spicy options, however other times, the spice level will be toned down.
  • We advise to only drink bottled drinking water (even when brushing your teeth) and our partners in Pakistan will guide you with restaurants to eat in.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difficulty level of Trekking in Pakistan?

High altitiude trekking is strenous. However, there are no technical routes or climbs on this trek. The route to Nanga Parnat base camp is not paved and is likely to get rough, rocky, and gravel-strewn most of the time.

You need to be fit enough to walk for about 5 – 6 hours every day for 3 days.

How fit should I be to join the trip?

You don’t need to be a hardcore trekker or an athlete, that’s for sure. If you’re already an avid trekker, this should not be much of a challenge for you. The fitter you are, the higher your chances of success. It is fair to say that before you take the challenge, you are able to walk comfortably for 3-4hrs a day. Even for a first-timer, this trek is achievable if you make proper preparation prior to departure.

To make your life easier, we are offering a complimentary mountain climbing training plan to all our clients, designed by Ryan Mex.

What type of insurance do I need?

Every client is required to make a travel insurance package which covers mountain trekking up to 4000m. This is an absolute must for any adventure expedition.

How is the weather like in the time of travel?

September is the best time for trekking in Fairy Meadows. These months are sunny most of the time which ensures mild climate and guaranteed views. Having said that, the weather in the Karakoram can be unpredictable, especially in the upper reaches of the trek. In worse scenarios, you might have to go through cold weather and snowy conditions on the higher altitudes.

What is the accommodation like?

Accomodation will be hand selected 3-4* hotels. The price includes accommodation in a shared private double room, however, if one wishes to have a private room that sleeps (1 person) this is possible at an additional cost of  €410

What travel vaccines are needed?

Vaccinations are subjective – they are required like most destinations outside of Europe. Best is to check with your doctor or Health Centre.

How about food?

Breakfast and dinner is included in the price. It is the responsibility of the persons joining an experience to communicate any food intolerances/allergy-related information. GTB or the Service Provider will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food/drinks consumed, or items one may come in contact with while on an experience

What's the power plug in Pakistan?

For Pakistan there are two associated plug types, C and D. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and type D is the plug which has three round pins in a triangular pattern.

Is it possible to arrive earlier / stay longer?

Yes, of course. As long as you are in Islamabad on the trip dates, you are free to arrive / leave whenever you want. It is best to let us know your plans so we can organise transfers accordingly.

Do I need a visa to enter Pakistan?

Yes, a visa is required to enter Pakistan and will take care of this for you. A Visa invitation letter is required and this will be sent to us by our licensed operators in Pakistan.
