Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.

We will start the guided city tour: Cusco and its surroundings.

Begin your city tour with a pick-up from your hotel and head to Qoricancha, the legendary Temple of the Sun. Once the spiritual heart of the Inca Empire and the point of connection between its four great regions, this sacred site radiates history and mystique. Later transformed by the Spanish into the Santo Domingo Convent, the complex beautifully blends Inca stonework with colonial architecture—an enduring symbol of two cultures layered into one striking landmark.

From here, continue to the famed hilltop fortress of Sacsayhuaman, just outside Cusco. This awe-inspiring site is renowned for its massive stone walls—perfectly carved and fitted with astonishing precision. Overlooking the entire city, Sacsayhuaman is believed to have served both ceremonial and defensive purposes, and remains one of the most iconic achievements of Inca engineering.

Your journey continues to Qenqo, a ceremonial site carved into a rocky outcrop. Wander through its stone passages, altars, and carved chambers, believed to have hosted rituals dedicated to the sun and Pachamama. The site’s mysterious design and spiritual atmosphere offer a glimpse into ancient Andean religious practices.

Next, visit Puca Pucara, a small yet strategically positioned Inca outpost. With its terraces, walls, and lookout points, this “Red Fortress” likely served as a military checkpoint and resting place for travelers heading toward the Sacred Valley.

Conclude your exploration at Tambomachay, known for its intricate water channels, flowing fountains, and serene terraces. Thought to be a place of purification and ritual bathing for the Inca elite, its gentle, ever-running waters make it one of the most peaceful sites on the route.

After your visit to Tambomachay, return to Cusco to end this enriching and historic city tour.

Overnight in Cusco.

Day 6Sacred Valley Highlights: Chinchero, Moray & Maras

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and set out from Cusco for a full-day exploration of the Sacred Valley, a journey rich in culture, history, and breathtaking Andean landscapes. Begin by traveling through fertile valleys and traditional Quechua communities as you make your way to the first stop: the ancient town of Chinchero. Known as the “Birthplace of the Rainbow,” Chinchero offers a captivating mix of colonial architecture built atop Inca stone foundations, vibrant artisan markets, and traditional textile workshops where local weavers demonstrate age-old techniques.

Continue onward to the remarkable circular terraces of Moray, an impressive Inca agricultural laboratory carved into the earth. These giant amphitheater-like depressions create unique microclimates, showcasing the Inca’s advanced understanding of farming and environmental engineering. Wander through the site and take in the sweeping mountain views that frame this fascinating landmark.

The tour then leads you to Maras, home to the famous salt mines that have been harvested since pre-Inca times. Thousands of geometric salt pools cascade down the mountainside, creating a surreal landscape of white terraces shimmering under the Andean sun. Learn about the traditional salt-extraction process and enjoy time to explore the area at your own pace.
