More than 50% of our bookings are from solo adventurers. We run open groups which means that anyone could join in the fun and meet like-minded travellers along the way. You can either team up with someone and share a room or else opt for the single supplement.

Late February/March in Colombia is characterised by mostly dry, sunny weather with varying temperatures depending on altitude. It’s a great time for both coastal and inland adventures!

Itinerary

Day 1 - Tuesday 18/02/2025 Bogota airport - Bogota

Arrival at the airport of Bogota, the Andean capital, and transport to your hotel. Approximately 30 minutes.

Day 2 - Wednesday 19/02/2025Bogota - Guatavita - Bogota airport - Armenia Airport - Salento

Depart from the hotel in the morning heading north to Laguna de Guatavita. Short walk of around 1h30 (round trip) to reach the lagoon.

In the afternoon, transport to Zipaquira. This town, declared a Colombian Heritage site, is known for its Salt Cathedral, which was built inside a salt mine.

Return to Bogota later in the afternoon.

Domestic flight to Armenia

Baggage weight limit of 23 kilos, additional kilos can be paid at the airport.

Private transport will take you from the Armenia airport to Salento. Approximately 1h.

Day 3 - Thursday 20/02/2025Salento - Filandia - Santa Rosa del Cabal

COCORA VALLEY & BOSQUE DE NIEBLA TOUR

Early morning departure from Salento heading towards Cocora Valley. Together with your guide, discover the valley and its famous wax palm trees. You will then reach the “bosque de niebla” (fog forest), a fascinating ecosystem in which you’ll be able to observe some of the region’s birds, and if lucky, animals such as Andean tapirs or spectacled bears. Head back to Salento for lunch.

Visiting Filandia in Colombia’s Eje Cafetero offers a charming experience. The town is known for its colorful colonial architecture and vibrant coffee culture. Key highlights include the Plaza Principal, a picturesque square ideal for relaxing and enjoying the local ambiance; the Mirador Colina Iluminada, which provides stunning panoramic views of the lush coffee region. Filandia’s unique blend of scenic beauty and cultural richness makes it a must-visit destination in the Coffee Triangle.

Day 4 - Friday 21/02/2025Santa Rosa del Cabal

Coffee Tour
An experiential coffee tour through coffee growing where you enjoy and experience the coffee process, from seed to taste. You’ll learn about our land’s traditional methods of growing, processing and preparing coffee, the coffee cultural landscape declared a World Heritage Site.

Tour duration: 2h30 / Distance: 2 kilometers.
Includes: 2 coffee tastings and a refreshing drink.
Typical peasant costume provided: poncho, hat and basket.

Transport to SANTA ROSA HOT SPRINGS

SANTA ROSA HOT SPRINGS

The Santa Rosa Hot Springs, or Termales de Santa Rosa, in the Eje Cafetero region of Colombia offer a straightforward thermal bathing experience. Located in a natural setting, the springs have several pools with varying temperatures. It’s a place to unwind, but the facilities are basic. Remember to bring swimwear, a towel, and water shoes.

GRAFFITI TOUR COMUNA 13

The district of Comuna 13 in Medellin was previously one of the most violent in the city. But the younger generation, tired of this situation, decided to react by using art such as rap, graffiti, or break dancing to transform their neighborhood. This movement was born in the Casa Kolacho Foundation. Two decades later, this artist ́s meeting point has given children art as an alternative to avoid getting involved in crime. Together with your guide and a member of the Casa Kolacho Foundation, you will walk through the streets and learn more about the district’s evolution.

Duration: approx. 3 hours

WALKING TOUR MEDELLIN

Be prepared to take an amazing tour to see Medellin like a local. You will visit the Administrative Center La Alpujarra, Botero Plaza, and other important monuments in the center.

The tour will end by heading back to the center and passing by Plaza Mayor and Pies Descalzos Park.

EL PEÑOL AND GUATAPE TOUR

Depart from your hotel and head to Guatape. First, you’ll visit El Peñol, where you’ll have the opportunity to climb the many steps of the enormous boulder that dominates the region for a spectacular view of the entire lagoon.
From there, you’ll continue to see the colorful and quaint village of Guatape, known for its decorative walls and beautiful church in its central square. You’ll have the opportunity to stroll through the cobblestone streets of this lakeside town. This place has been called a natural and environmental heritage site of Colombia.

Return to your hotel in Medellin in the evening.
Transfer: 3h – Visit: all day

Domestic flight to Santa Marta

Arrive at the Santa Marta airport and transfer to your hotel located in the historic centre of the oldest city of Colombia (around 35 minutes).

Day 8: Tuesday 25/2/2025Santa Marta - Tayrona Park

Breakfast & Private transport from Santa Marta to Tayrona Park (around 1h)

TAYRONA PARK: ARRECIFES AND CABO SAN JUAN

This hike in Tayrona Park will take you to a magical place located between mountains, tropical forests, and the sea. You will discover the most beautiful white sand beaches of the country and ancestral volcanic rocks in the crystal clear water of the Caribbean Sea.

You start with a hike in the tropical jungle from Cañaveral. Then, you’ll visit the exotic beaches of Arrecifes and stop at La Piscina, which is ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Continue to reach Cabo San Juan del Guia (2h-2h30 hike from the park entrance), a wonderful, white sandy bay, surrounded by huge volcanic rocks. On the way, your guide will show you the local fauna and flora, followed by lunch on the beach. Head back to the park entrance along the same path (2h-2h30 hike), and bus ride back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Hike: 5h (jungle, beach, stairs). Duration: 7h.

Please note it is not allowed to enter the park with single-use plastic elements (plastic bottles, packaging, etc). Don’t forget to bring your refillable bottle!

Day 9 - Wednesday 26/2/2025Santa Marta - Cienaga Grande: Nueva Venecia - Cartagena

Breakfast and private transport from Santa Marta, the oldest city of Colombia, to Cartagena with a stop at the Cienaga Grande. The drive will take approximately 4.5-5.5 hours. 

CIENAGA GRANDE: NUEVA VENECIA

Do you want to discover unknown places in Colombia? This area located in Cienaga Grande is off the beaten path and not visited by many tourists. It is a small village of fishermen living on the water of Nueva Venezia, which is still preserved from tourism and keeps all of its authenticity. It is the widest and most important coastal lagoon of Colombia, and it is also one of the main fishing areas of the Northern coast. It is considered a strategic point and of vital importance for the region and country. The fishermen community makes a living thanks to the Cienaga Grande and lives in picturesque villages on stilts.

Day 10 - Thursday 27/02/2025 Cartagena

After breakfast you will begin the day with a WALKING TOUR OF CARTAGENA

Follow the steps of the famous pirates and let yourself be surprised by the “Pearl of the Caribbean”; the exotic mixed heritage and the cultural richness of this city will not fail to fascinate you. This tour through the streets of the beautiful city of Cartagena will take you back to the colonial era, with its colourful houses and lively squares.

Visit of the city on foot: you’ll walk in the colonial district of San Diego and Santo Domingo passing through the Plaza de los Coches, the Plaza de la Aduana, the Parque Bolívar, the Gold Museum, the Plaza de Santa Teresa, the Palace of Inquisition, the famous walls surrounding the old city and the Vaults.

Duration: 4h

One of the best ways to get a real sense of the local culture is to discover its cuisine. Let’s open our appetite and an a the streets to enjoy the food as the locals do. TOUR ISLAS DE ROSARIO plan Arrecife

Relax during a day trip in the Rosario’s Islands, where you will be able to enjoy the beautiful waters of the Caribbean sea.

Meet at 7:30 AM at the Marina Santa Cruz in Manga to go to Isla Grande, the longest island in the archipelago. The boat will go along the San Fernando Fort in Boca Chica. Once you arrive on the Island, you will be welcomed with a cocktail and have free time to enjoy the longest beach on the island and facilities of the hotel. You will be back in Cartagena around 3:00 PM.

You will have the opportunity to enjoy other activities at an extra cost such as snorkelling, eco-walks, and kayaking in the mangroves.

PALOQUEMAO MARKET TOUR

Depart from your hotel to the Paloquemao produce market. You will discover a typical side of Colombia while strolling through the retail market, one of the largest in the country. Most of Bogota’s restaurants get their ingredients here, which makes it very lively. You will get to know so many different kinds of fruits and vegetables, some of which you’ll probably have never even heard of! Return to your hotel after the visit. Visit: 1h20 – Transport: 40min roundtrip. 

MONSERRATE TOUR

Monserrate hill is located 3152 m above sea level in the Andean Cordillera and offers a stunning view of the city and valley. The Señor de Monserrate Basilica is neoclassical in its style and was built on top of the hill in 1925. It was later on transformed into a neocolonial style church. You will take a cable car to the top and later return to your hotel in the historical center.

Transport: approx. 30 minutes – Duration: 3h

HISTORICAL WALKING TOUR

Discover the centre of Bogota like a local. The walking tour of the capital will take you through the most authentic places in the city.

In the morning: Walking city tour in the center. You will discover the colonial district of La Candelaria, Bogota’s historical center and its squares and markets. It is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and to understand their way of life.
In the afternoon: you will visit the famous Gold Museum (closed on Mondays) and Botero Museum (closed on Tuesdays) where you will be able to admire the masterpieces of the renowned Colombian painter and sculptor.

Is it possible to arrive earlier / stay longer?

  • Yes, of course. As long as you are in  Bogota on the trip dates, you are free to arrive / leave whenever you want. It is best to let us know your plans so we can organise transfers accordingly. 

What type of insurance do I need?

Every client is required to have a travel insurance package. This needs to be presented to us.

Do I need a visa to enter Colombia?

You don’t need a visa for Colombia if you have a Maltese passport

How much is the single supplement?

  • Our local partners and tour leader can adjust the itinerary at the last minute due to weather conditions. Changes will only be made with your safety and well-being in mind, and not for any other reason.
  • We will make every effort to pair you with a roommate for a twin room. However, if this is not possible, you will be responsible for covering the single supplement fee.
  • If you decide to switch from a shared room to a single room after booking, the single supplement option won't apply. We'll need to work out a new price for the single room based on each individual case.
  • It is the responsibility of the persons joining an experience to communicate any food intolerances/allergy-related information. GTB or the Service Provider will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food/drinks consumed, or items one may come in contact with while on an experience

  • Signing up to any of our trips and any risks involved are the sole responsibility of the individual, and organizers cannot be held responsible in any way to illness, altitude sickness, injury or trauma during the trip.
  • If a traveller for some reason cannot travel on the dates, the organiser is not responsible.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel your booking, we will offer a refund of any balance which we have not yet paid or are obliged to pay to any other Third Party. When a booking is cancelled within the month prior to departure, the remaining balance will be non refundable as well as we would be fully committed at that stage. All types of travel insurance are supposed to cover “cancellations” and for this reason we require that such travel insurance is purchased prior to travel.
