Why you should join our trip to Uzbekistan

Join our 2nd group trip to Uzbekistan organised by Michelle from ‘Cheeky Passports’, with other fun and like-minded traveller, on a 12-day journey across Uzbekistan. We will visit beautiful palaces, mosques and ancient castles as we journey back in time and explore Uzbekistan’s wondrous architecture and monuments.

We will also visit the pleasant capital, Tashkent including the fascinating Chorsu Bazaar, and spend one night in a traditional yurt! You will also have the opportunity to go on a camel ride.

Solo Traveller?

More than 50% of our bookings are from solo adventurers. We run open groups which means that anyone could join in the fun and meet like-minded travellers along the way. You can either team up with someone and share a room or else opt for the single supplement.

We have a  limited amount of seats reserved at the price of €850 – a 25% deposit is required on booking and the remaining amount is to be paid 1 or 2 months prior to departure dates.

Itinerary

Day 1 - 11th SeptemberArrival

Arrive at Tashkent airport at approximately 00.45. Transfer to the hotel where you have the opportunity to rest and have breakfast in the morning.

City tour in Tashkent: Excursion through old part of the city including a visit to:

  • complex Khasti Imam (storehouse of the well-known Koran of Khalif Osman and gold hair of prophet Muhammad) and
  • Chorsu national oriental bazaar.

Pass by other notable city monuments such as Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Amir Timur Square with a monument to the great commander in the center, famous Tashkent clocks and the Uzbekistan (Intourist) Hotel and Palace of Forums.

Day 2 - 12th SeptemberChimgan & Charvak

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning drive towards Chimgan Mountains (90 km, 1.5 hrs.).

On arrival, time to enjoy chair-cable car lift to reach on the top. (Note that price of chair cable lift is not included in the package and needs to be purchased separately)

Time for taking photos and nature view. Take chair-cable car to come down. (Optional – 20USD pp). Those who opt out could enjoy a relaxed walk in the area enjoying the nature or could sit at a cozy cafe.

Drive to the shores of Charvak Lake. Enjoy the scenery and if a season permits try some of water activities catamaran-riding, Quadra-cycles, Paragliding, Horse-back riding and etc. (Optional – approx 20 USD)

Day 3 - 13th SeptemberKhiva

Transfer to Tashkent Domestic Airport.

05:00 Transfer to the airport, 07:00 flight to Urgench by HY 51.

08:30 arrival and transfer to Khiva (30 km).  

Khiva city tour:

If you ever dreamed of getting into Eastern fairy tale, this is it. You will observe and experience the narrow streets, carved “ayvans”, veranda and doors, majestic minarets and mausoleums, heritage and arts – all kept with care in this city as great treasure.

We will visit:

  • Ichan-Kala architectural complex,
  • the Residence of the last Khiva Khan including Ismail Khodja Mausoleum,
  • Muhammed Amin Khan Madrassah,
  • Kunya-Ark Castle,
  • Kalta Minor Tower,
  • Tash-Hovli Palace
  • Juma Mosque

Among other Khiva tourist sights.

Accommodation: Asia Khiva.

Day 4 - 14th SeptemberKhiva & Khorezm

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning visits to the ruins of the ancient fortresses of Khorezm including

  • Shylpyk-Kala – a Zoroastrian dakhma
  • Janbas Kala
  • Ayaz Kala
  • Toprak-Kala – the capital of Khorezm in 3rd c. AD.

Later drive back to Khiva. Rest of the day on your own explore.

Day 5 - 15th SeptemberBukhara

Breakfast at the hotel.

Drive to Bukhara: In old days, route from Khiva to Bukhara lasted more than a month. Today it takes 6-7 hours by vehicle, through mysterious red desert Kyzyl-Kum.

Visit to Ulli-Khovli Complex. The fortress, now restored, showcases the culture of two people – the Uzbeks and the Turkmens.

Photo stop at Amudarya river on the way.

Arrival to Bukhara, check-in to the hotel.

Day 6 - 16th SeptemberBukhara

Breakfast at the hotel.

Full day tour of the main sites in Bukhara, one of Uzbekistan’s famous silk road cities, a centre for trade, culture and religion. It is filled with beautiful madrasahs and stunning mosques.

We will visit:

  • The Ark Citadel – a city within a city
  • Bolo House Mosque
  • The architectural ensemble of Poi-Kalon
  • Ulugbek Madrasah
  • Nodir – Divan – Begi Madrasah,
  • The Kosh-Madrasah ensemble (consisting of two opposing madrasahs

Among other historic landmarks.

Day 7 - 17th SeptemberBukhara

Breakfast at the hotel

Today we will drive out of Bukhara and visit:

  • The mausoleum of Bahoutdin Naqshbandi Sufi teacher, considered the founder of the most significant Sufi order, Naqshbandi.
  • The necropolis of Chor Bakr where there are burials of sheikhs from the family of Djuybar Seyids. The necropolis itself is a fairly large architectural complex, listed in the UNESCO catalog. The name of the necropolis “Chor-Bakr” means “Four Brothers”, but abroad the necropolis is better known as the “City of the Dead”.
  • The palace of Sitorai Mohi Khosa (Palace like stars and the moon) is the country residence of the Emir of Bukhara, built in the late XIX – early XX century.

Day 8 - 18th SeptemberNurata

Breakfast at Bukhara hotel.

Drive to Nurata on the way stop in Gijduvan to see private pottery workshop. View Alexander the Great castle.

Transfer to the yurts camp where you will have the possibility of Camel riding (Optional – against a fair tip to the local providing the service).

Evening dinner and listening of national Kazakh singer (Akyn) at fire.

Accommodation: Night in the yurts camp.

Please note that yurts camp accommodate 4 people, so a yurt camp will be assigned to every four people in the group accordingly. Also bathrooms will be shared amongst the group. 

Day 9 - 19th SeptemberSamarkand

Breakfast at the Yurts Camp.

Transfer to the Aydarkul lake for a short swim or walking, depending on the weather.

Lunch boxes will be given from the yurt camp. 

Drive to Samarkand. Arrival and check in at the hotel.

Day 10 - 20th SeptemberSamarkand

Breakfast at the hotel.

Embark on an exciting excursion in Samarkand, including

  • a visit to the Mausoleum of Guri Emir
  • the beautiful Registan Square,
  • the Bibi Khanum Mosque – the largest in Central Asia and one of the grandest in the Muslim world.

The final stop is the Shahi-Zinda architectural complex (11th-15th century), a royal burial site.

Day 11 - 21st SeptemberSamarkand

Breakfast at the hotel.

Spend the morning in Samarkand at your own leisure.

Afternoon / evening: transfer to Samarkand Railways Station and board a train to Tashkent.

Day 12 - 22nd SeptemberDeparture Day

Transfer to the airport for your return flight home, concluding your unforgettable journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to arrive earlier / stay longer?

Yes, of course. As long as you are in Uzbekistan on the trip dates, you are free to arrive / leave whenever you want. It is best to let us know your plans so we can organise transfers accordingly. 

What type of insurance do I need?

For safety, travel insurance is mandatory when travelling with us. You need to make sure that the country of visit is covered by your insurance and is important to keep a copy of your insurance policy handy.

What's the power plug in Uzbekistan?

For Uzbekistan the associated plug type is C and F which are plugs with two round pins. The standard voltage is 220 V at a frequency of 50 Hz.

Do I need a visa to enter Uzbekistan?

Maltese citizens do not need a visa. 

Hows the food situation?

Food is quite diverse in this region. It’s possible to find oriental or European. Up to your taste. Most of the restaurants contain in the menu both – Uzbek and European dishes.

What about currency and payments?

We advise to bring cash. Visa or Mastercard well presented, but not always work properly.

  • Confirmation will be received within 24 hours of booking - subject to availability
  • First come, first served basis. The minimum number of people required for this trip is 10 people. In the case this is not reached, you will get your full payment back.
  • Our local partners and tour leader can adjust the itinerary at the last minute due to weather conditions. Changes will only be made with your safety and well-being in mind, and not for any other reason.
  • We will make every effort to pair you with a roommate for a twin room. However, if this is not possible, you will be responsible for covering the single supplement fee.
  • Tour timings and the order of activities are subject to change based on final flight schedules or unforeseen circumstances, such as the unavailability of certain activities. A final version of the itinerary will be provided in booklet form closer to the trip dates. We strive to provide equivalent alternatives to ensure the best experience for our travelers.
  • If you decide to switch from a shared room to a single room after booking, the single supplement option won't apply. We'll need to work out a new price for the single room based on each individual case.
  • It is the responsibility of the persons joining an experience to communicate any food intolerances/allergy-related information. GTB or the Service Provider will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to food/drinks consumed, or items one may come in contact with while on an experience

  • Travel and Health insurance is obligatory: All travellers must be fully insured, and purchase their own travel insurance which covers the particular trip being booked. A waiver document must be filled in, signed and sent back to Globaltravelbook.
  • International flights are not included. You must book your own flights and be in the visiting country on the itinerary dates. Your flight must arrive by or before the Arrival Day, and depart no earlier then the Departure Day.
  • Signing up to any of our trips and any risks involved are the sole responsibility of the individual, and organizers cannot be held responsible in any way to illness, altitude sickness, injury or trauma during the trip.
  • If a traveller for some reason cannot travel on the dates, the organiser is not responsible.

To secure your spot you need to send a 25% deposit either via bank transfer or our online payment system after completing the booking form. Second payment (50%) is required by 15/4/25 and final payment (25%) is due on 15/6/25

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel your booking, we will offer a refund of any balance which we have not yet paid or are obliged to pay to any other Third Party. When a booking is cancelled within the month prior to departure, the remaining balance will be non refundable as well as we would be fully committed at that stage. All types of travel insurance are supposed to cover “cancellations” and for this reason we require that such travel insurance is purchased prior to travel.
