Following the success of our first Tanzania Families & Kids group trip, we’re returning for another adventure combining an unforgettable African safari with a relaxing stay in Zanzibar.
This trip gives families the chance to experience Tanzania together, spotting wildlife across Tarangire, Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, sharing the adventure with other like-minded families, and finishing with a few days of beach time in beautiful Nungwi, Zanzibar.
We recommend this trip for children aged 7 and over. Safari days can involve long game drives and several hours in the vehicle, while roads inside the national parks can be dusty, uneven and bumpy, all part of the authentic safari experience! Children should therefore be comfortable with longer days on the road.
After the safari, Zanzibar gives everyone time to slow down, swim, enjoy the beach and relax together — making it a great combination of adventure, wildlife and family time.

The season
July falls in the dry season, when rainfall is minimal and the weather is sunny and pleasant. Wildlife is easier to spot as animals gather around rivers and waterholes, and the landscapes are open and easy to explore, making game drives more enjoyable.

Note: Airport transfer is included for guests travelling on the group flight booking, as well as those arriving/departing at the same time as the rest of the group. After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel for a short safari briefing before setting off toward Tarangire National Park, with lunch served en route.
In the afternoon, embark on your first exciting game drive. Tarangire is renowned for its vast elephant herds, striking baobab-dotted landscapes, and rich wildlife diversity. Keep your eyes open for lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, kudus, impalas, and over 500 species of birds that call the park home.
During the day, you will take a cultural detour with a visit to a traditional Maasai Boma (approximately 1 hour), where you’ll experience the customs and way of life of the Maasai people.

After breakfast, begin your scenic journey toward the Northern Serengeti ecosystem, through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and western Serengeti corridor.
Enjoy game viewing en route as wildlife sightings begin even before reaching camp. Lunch served en route.
Arrive in the Ikoma area in the late afternoon, an excellent location close to major wildlife movement routes, especially during migration season.

After breakfast, set out on a morning game drive along the Grumeti River, an important wildlife corridor renowned for its resident hippos, crocodiles, and dramatic predator–prey encounters. With a packed picnic lunch, you’ll have the flexibility to explore deeper into the park in search of its incredible wildlife.
Later, continue with a game drive en route to the Central Serengeti (Seronera Area), an area celebrated for its year-round abundance of wildlife. With a bit of luck, you may witness wildebeest crossing the river (sightings are seasonal and not guaranteed).
Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the afternoon, where you can relax and soak in breathtaking sunset views over the endless Serengeti plains.

Note: Participants who choose the optional hot air balloon activity will wake up early on this day and rejoin the group later in the morning. The cost of the activity is €500, payable in euros at the exchange rate applicable at the time.
Wake up to the sights and sounds of the wild and enjoy an early breakfast before setting out for a full-day game drive across the sweeping plains of the Serengeti.
Lunch will be served at Serengeti Safari Lodge for the entire group. In the afternoon, all participants, both standard and midrange, may choose to relax at the lodge and enjoy the swimming pool and leisure facilities instead of continuing with an afternoon game drive.
After lunch, you will continue on a game-drive for sightings of lions lounging in the sun, cheetahs scanning the horizon, elephants ambling gracefully, giraffes feeding among acacia trees, and hippos wallowing in rivers.
In the late afternoon, return to your camp or lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an evening under the Serengeti’s star-filled skies.

After an early breakfast, depart the Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a spectacular game drive inside this UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to a dense population of wildlife including black rhinos, lions, elephants, and flamingos. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed en route to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Enjoy a 5 to 6 hour day game drive across the crater floor, spotting lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, and a variety of birds. Pause for a picnic lunch amid the stunning landscapes before continuing your wildlife exploration.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your included internal flight to Zanzibar. Depending on your flight schedule (early afternoon), there may be an opportunity to visit a local school, offering a glimpse into community life. Guests who wish to contribute are welcome to make a donation.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, transfer to your hotel or beach resort, where the rest of the day is free to relax, enjoy the tropical beaches, or explore the island at your leisure.

Yes, absolutely. Safety is always our top priority. Parents are always briefed on safety rules around wildlife to ensure peace of mind throughout the trip and a local guide will be with you at all times.
After booking, we will organise a group meeting, and we will provide you with a brochure that includes further details and a packing list.
No vaccines are required for entry. However, it is strongly recommended that you consult your doctor or the Immunisation Centre in Malta before travelling. They can advise you on any recommended vaccinations or preventive measures to help ensure your safety and wellbeing during your trip.
Malaria prophylaxis may be advised, so we recommend consulting your travel doctor or local health clinic at least 6–8 weeks before your trip to ensure you and/or your children are fully protected.

The lodges will provide meals to their guests. Zanzibar is home to a vast range of cuisine, and Italian food as well as seafood is especially prevalent on the island.
The best time to visit Tanzania is during the Dry season, from June to October, when wildlife viewing is generally at its best.
Tanzania – Maltese passport holders do not need a visa to enter Tanzania
Currency: Tanzanian Shillings (TZS). You may exchange either Euros (EUR) or US Dollars (USD) into Tanzanian Shillings. On Day 1, we will stop to exchange money before heading to Tarangire. US Dollars are also widely accepted, particularly for tourism-related expenses, hotels, tips and optional activities.

If you choose to cancel your booking, you must notify us in writing on explore@globaltravelbook.com as soon as possible. Upon cancellation, we will assess any recoverable amounts and provide a refund of funds that we have not yet paid, or are not contractually obligated to pay, to third-party suppliers (including but not limited to airlines, hotels, transport providers, and activity operators).
Please note that many components of group travel are prepaid and non-refundable. As such, the closer the cancellation is to the departure date, the lower the likelihood of recovering any funds.
Travel Insurance Requirement: We strongly require all clients to obtain comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Standard travel insurance policies typically provide coverage for trip cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (subject to policy terms and conditions). As we cannot assume liability for cancellations, failure to obtain adequate insurance may result in financial loss.
No-show or unused services: No refunds will be provided for failure to join the trip, late arrival, early departure, or any unused portion of the travel package.
